Valentine's Day gift for my Sweetie {Pinterest}

I made this for JJ last year. I didn't want to show it off until he got it so I saved the post to give inspiration this year. :)

My friend Leslie, alerted me to a pin she found on Pinterest. Of course! I immediately pinned it to my "Crafy Creations & Ideas" board. This is where I keep a stash of all the things that catch my eye for ideas, inspiration, how-tos, etc.

The original idea came from PaperVine. Lowri wrote a great tutorial. I followed most of it, I just decorated mine differently.

Here's hers:

I really recommend going and reading her tutorial. It's very straightforward.

Without further ado, here's my finished product!

I cut the letters off some patterned paper I had in my stash.

I covered the front and back of each page...so you really can't see that the base is a deck of cards. When I began, it really wasn't my intention to cover all surfaces...as I had sanded (ruined a cutting board and breathed in who-knows-what from the plastic coating) both sides off all the cards.

This is somewhat of a side view. Mine really doesn't stand up or anything. And I had to use 2" (I think) rings because I added too many layers to use the ones recommended in the tutorial.

Overall, I LOVED this project.

-First I made my list of reasons.
-Then I chose a paper pack and some papers.
-I cut all the pieces with George cartridge on my Cricut...messing with the size until I had a relationship that looked good.
-I hand wrote all the reasons...because I like the idea of my handwriting being on there. And because I am straight up terrible at printing labels. :)

What projects are you making for your Sweetie for Valentine's Day? I'd love to know.

In the pursuit of a sun porch

I've been collecting for my sun porch since I saw our house on the Multi-List Server we moved into our house. The day we closed, we hit up an auction in my home town.

I already had some wicker furniture that came with the house but was looking for a small stool/low chair/something besides the side table on which to prop my feet.

Look what I found! And only $11!!!

Bright sun shine makes it difficult to take a decent picture.

A little on the ugly side but I can see potential with a little paint and some fabric!

I got this wild idea to paint the bottom of it yellow. This yellow:

Boy is it bright!!!

Ok, part of that might be the sun but...

A little Sun Yellow to the rescue!

I was drawing from this inspiration picture:

I lost the source...sorry. I pinned it before I realized I was sometimes losing the source.

Anyway, I still need to cover the top. I think I'm going to use dropcloth...but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure the yellow is staying...

What do you think??

I'll show you it IN my porch soon. I think I am almost done out there...for now.

Scarf Organization {Pinterest}

A couple of months ago, in this post, I showed you a picture of my scarves.

I have a small collection...and I'd love to see my collection grow. :)

While browsing Pinterest one day, I came across and idea to organize and store/hand scarves. This is the original post (to the best I can figure).

I had no organization for my scarves. So, armed with this idea, I set off to make my own. I heeded the original author's advice and opted for a durable hanger and snagged some cheep shower rings from Wal-Marks.

If I remember correctly, they were a couple of dollars.

I snapped the rings on the bottom of the hanger and added my scarves.

Viola!

Do you have a favorite scarf? Do you have a better plan for organization? I'd love to see!
