Welcome to the Treat Yourself Crop {Blog Hop}!
I trust you found your way here from Colleen's. Doesn't she have great style??
Check out the crop at CardMaker Magazine's message board. You will have until 11:59PM EST August 14, 2012 to get your projects done and uploaded to the challenge thread. Check it out! You will be glad you did...lots of great inspiration plus a nice group of people!
We were suppose to create a project aligning with the theme of {Treat Yourself}. Hmmm...I'm pretty good at taking care of me. I like Sunday afternoon naps with my Husband. I like sugar scrub, pretty fingernail polish, the occasional pedicure. I like to sing hymns to myself around the house. I like lunch with my girlfriends, a great junk store, estate auctions and porch swings. I like old furniture and spray paint. I like old houses and front porches. I try to turn the things I do into treats for me...even the laundry.
And I lie. :) About the laundry. I hate to do laundry but I tell myself that when it's done, I can do something I like to do. Like sit on the porch or swing in my hammock or explore a junk store.
And I digress....
Anyway, I recently got a new hammock and I love hammocks! In my card, below, I substituted a tire swing. :)
Stamp set: Branch Out (retired Stampin Up) Paper: Red (SU), card base (recollections), patterned paper (My Mind's eye)

Laura <----Here!
Beautiful card Laura! I love that serene image! And I love the your idea of treating yourself at the end of a chore like laundry! That would make it more pleasant!
ReplyDeleteROFL!!!! LOVE the Seseme Street reference, you goof. :) I feel so fortunate to have you as a friend. :)
ReplyDeleteWe are both fortunate!
DeleteLove your sense of humor girl! Hmmm... seems I love a lot of the same things you do. One exception - not even a treat at the end makes me like doing laundry. Love the tire swing in your card and how you did the leaves. Very clever.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marlene! I still dislike laundry even with a treat...however, going naked isn't very appealing either. :)
DeleteLove your lovely tree!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cindi

Too funny about the laundry. I love your card and the stamp you used.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a hammock, haven't had one of those before...although I think they're neat, I've never had the trees to support one! Ironing is the chore that gets me every time, sigh.
ReplyDeleteOh you would love a hammock. I currently have mine tied to the trees. However, my original plan was to get a stand. My parent's have theirs on a stand and it's wonderful.
DeleteSwinging card! The greatest pleasures are free and simple. You can be jealous.....my husband "loves" to do the laundry. Lucky ME!
ReplyDeletePerhaps when he finishes laundry at your house, he could swing past our house? Better yet, I would be happy to ship. :) Lucky you, for sure!!
DeleteFirst off I love your card and that stamp set is one of my very very fav. from SU. Second I HATE laundry! Third I love your vintage chair in the picture. I had two matching ones like these in my city home but sold them when we moved to the mountains. I really miss that look in my house.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jane. I think we love the same things!! 3 of my BFF girlfriends got that chair for me for my 30th birthday. I dearly love it; my husband thinks it's an old piece of junk. :)
DeleteGreat card...love the tire swing..brings back memories!
ReplyDeletecute card, love the tire swing!
ReplyDeleteI love your card and the way you treat yourself! I usually do laundry while I'm doing other things, like turning on a movie while I fold and only watching while I'm folding, etc. It's ironing that I hate, 'cause I have to stand up for over an hour while doing it (generally do it in the evenings while the t.v. is on, too). The tire swing on your card is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI usually catch up on DVR stuff while folding...that helps. Ironing...I try to avoid like the plague!!!
DeleteSuch a pretty card. Love the swing

Cute card your robin pops out against all the green leaves. Laundry is definitely no fun.
ReplyDeleteHaven't used my Top Note in quite a while; this might get me to take it out again.
ReplyDeletei love the tree. i don't remember that set but i love the card you made jsut the same. it looks like you speckled the leaves on. set up the hammock i'll be there shortly!
ReplyDeleteThis is a favorite stamp set of mine too! I bought it when it was current (non-retired) and was an early set for me.
ReplyDeleteFabby card - you should be proud of it!!!!
