Ok, here's my project: Stinking Cute Photo Holders!

If you have spent much time around here, you know that I make several things for my Grandma's Church Bazaar. I made several of these for her Bazaar this year.

Photobucket

This one is my favorite! (I think because it's one of my favorite pictures!) I did spray my Hobby Lobby open stock paper with Tattered Angles Glimmer Mist to up its glitter factor but I will admit, it is not very Christmas-y... Don't worry, I am your Christmas girl! Let me show you first how I made these functional little do-dads.

I started with these.Photobucket (Yes, I purchased them. No Staples did not pay me or ask me to show them off.)

Then, I got out my scrap paper drawer and began cutting pieces 1 1/4" x 2". Some pieces I sprayed with Smooch or Glimmer mist. Next, I creased the paper around the binder clips (mostly to make sure it was going to fit correctly). I used Terrifically Tacky Tape (the red roll) on each side (so three strips of tape total) and stuck down the paper. (Credit: When I couldn't get mine to stand up correctly, I watched this video.)

I selected ribbon to coordinate with the paper. (The pink is from Michaels (below), JJ put it in my stocking last year. The black is fab! satin ribbon from Stampin UP!) I put a little bit of adhesive on the ribbon right where it goes around the silver parts of the binder clips... otherwise, the ribbon rides up and there's no where for the picture to go.

Here's my Christmas sample:

Photobucket That's paper from the open stock at Hobby Lobby. Those snazzy chicks in the photo are my sister and I in San Fransisco a couple of years ago.

House of Jones Holiday Traditions

Our first Christmas as husband and wife, I decided we needed to start some Christmas traditions! (Now, every since I have had my own Christmas tree (i.e., not living with my parents) I have left the tree lights on all night long on Christmas Eve and slept in the living room... JJ does this with me too. And someday, I will let our children do the same I am sure.) So, that first year, which was just last year in case you are counting, I bought us both fun/cute Christmas PJs to wear to bed on Christmas Eve. My thoughts were that our Christmas morning pictures would be better since we wouldn't be in old sweats but... I don't even think we took any last year. Anyway, that's our thing! And I love it! And JJ plays along with my game!

Now! Leave me some love for a random chance to win my candy.... can't really show it to you... but trust me! I am the last blog on the hop. Head on over to CardMaker and check out the challenges. Have a ball with all the challenges and thanks for stopping by!

  9. These are so cute!!! I actually have some ( a whole box) of these holders sitting around, and think that these would make great stocking stuffers for the family this Christmas! I love your tradition...I've got making robes for the family (just the nuclear family) on the list this year...of course, its been on the list for three years now...but its not my fault...my serger broke!!! LOL, maybe this year!

  10. Those are cute and seem easy to make. They would also make good displays for sample cards at crop parties.
Thank you for participating in the blog hop, Laura. I like your Christmas tradition very much. Thanks for sharing it.

  11. You are adorable! I love your traditions... but how are you going to be able to get Santa presents under the tree if the kids are sleeping under it? Hmmm? HAHA! LOVE the clips. Thanks so much for being part of the hop. :)

  12. Great idea for the picture holders. You could have put last year's Christmas pictures in them - if you had any!!! LOL.

Cute tradition to sleep in the living room with the Christmas lights on. I don't do that on purpose, but I do sit up late some nights with no lights on except for the tree - and have to admit that I do fall asleep sometimes.

It was wonderful going through all of the blogs and I will return later to look further at some of them. What a great way to get to find new bloggers. Thanks, everyone, it was fun!!

  13. These really are a stinkin' cute idea. My granddaughters birthday is coming up...I invision making all the little girls a clip as a party favor, taking a photo of each of the girls with my grandaughter and sending it home with them in their own clip! Thank you for the inspiration! I leave my tree lights on all night too...don't think I could get my husband to sleep in the living room, but he loves getting new pj's every year! Thank you for sharing your story, talent, time and candy..Sincerely, Mary

  29. We've also done Christmas PJ's every year since I was a little girl. It was that you could open 1 gift from under the tree Christmas eve but my parents switched it to Christmas PJ's the year that I (their tom-boy) daughter opened the really strange sounding/feeling gift from her great grandmother that she figured had to be the best toy ever (despite parents trying their hardest to convince me to open something different) only to open a makeup mirror and be thoroughly disappointed and sulking since my older brother listened to which gift he should open and opened a really cool toy and new pair of pj's..... ever since their is always a gift wrapped up and marked CHIRSTMAS EVE and it's always PJ's!!

Love these little clip photo holders.. super quick but so cute!! Would be great gifts for everyone at an office.

  35. What a cute holiday tradition. When we were kids, we could open one present on Christmas Eve. I don't know how Mom did it, but we always managed to pick the PJ's so our Christmas morning pictures featured new PJ's and not the threadbare ones we usually wore!

I love those photoholders. You can also use the Christmas ones to hold the Christmas cards you receive. Thanks for sharing.
